Discover the rich photographic opportunities at St. Johns Botanical Gardens and Nature Preserve in this hands-on field workshop with Brett Wells. This diverse living landscape offers an ideal environment to explore both intimate macro subjects and dynamic wildlife moments within a single location.
Participants will work alongside Brett to photograph wildflowers, insects, and small wildlife while learning how to adapt techniques across different subject scales. The workshop will cover close-up composition, depth of field control, focus strategy, and the thoughtful use of natural light to create clean, compelling images in the field.
Brett will also share practical approaches to observing behavior, positioning for stronger backgrounds, and moving efficiently between macro and wildlife opportunities as conditions evolve. Emphasis will be placed on slowing down, seeing intentionally, and building images with both technical precision and artistic awareness.
This session is ideal for photographers looking to strengthen their versatility in nature photography while working in a richly layered outdoor setting.
