This class is for every photographer who’s opened Lightroom Classic, imported hundreds of
photos, and then thought, Where did everything go? We’ll start from square one and build your Lightroom system the right way. You’ll learn how to design a bulletproof folder structure, use collections and keywords to stay organized, and finally understand how the Catalog works (without needing a computer science degree). We’ll demystify import settings, smart previews, backups, and exporting. Then we’ll cover the foundation of all good editing: exposure, white balance, and the power of the Basic panel. Perfect for photographers who want Lightroom to feel like a creative ally, not a frustrating mystery.
Topics and Techniques:
• Folder structure and hard drive setup for long-term organization
• Catalog vs. folders: how Lightroom actually works
• Import settings, file renaming, and metadata presets
• Using collections, smart collections, and keywords efficiently
• Working with flags, ratings, and color labels for culling
• Setting up backup strategies and export presets
• Introduction to the Develop module: basic tonal correction, cropping, white balance
• How to prep files for printing and exporting
