PART 2 Astro and Nightscape Photography - In the Field *WEATHER PERMITTING*
Leader: Shiv Verma
Meeting Location: Marineland Rock Beach, 9700 Oceanshore Blvd.
FRI 9:00 - 11:00 P.M.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Max No. People: 14
This program includes photographing the night skies, the Milky Way, and star trails but also techniques for creating star stacks, start trails, and time-lapse capture.
You will learn:
• Camera settings — Shutter speed, aperture, BULB, ISO, white balance for optimum nighttime exposures
• Taking High ISO test shots for calculation and composition
• Combining ambient light for exceptional astro landscapes
• Shooting base exposures and flat frame, dark frame exposures and combining these for noise-free images
• Post-processing techniques
• Shooting and creating time-lapse sequences and videos
Gear List: DSLR or Mirrorless Camera,; a wide prime like 14 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm or 24 mm 2.8 or faster. F/4 will do in a pinch alternative a fast zoom in the 16 - 35 mm range f/2.8 or faster will work as well. A tripod is a must, an internal intervalometer or a remote intervalometer is preferred; a remote trigger will work, but not as efficiently. An astro/star tracking mount like the MSM Nomad or a Benro Polaris with the astro module will allow for much longer exposures.
